About
This 70-minute class returns to the essential foundations of practice, offering a clear and methodical pathway to reset, reconnect, and refine your understanding of key principles. It provides a well-rounded exploration of the main asana groups, making it an ideal class for consolidating your practice at any stage.
The session begins with a detailed exploration of Tadasana, establishing the fundamental concepts of balance, alignment, and precision. These principles are then progressively extended into related standing poses such as Trikonasana and Parsvakonasana, helping to develop stability and spatial awareness in more expansive forms.
From here, the class draws important connections between standing and seated work, linking the upright structure of Tadasana to its seated counterpart, Dandasana. This relationship provides a deeper understanding of how foundational actions translate across different pose categories.
Twisting actions are then introduced in a gradual and accessible way, beginning in a simple cross-legged position before progressing to the kneeling twist Bharadvajasana. This progression allows the spine to be mobilised with clarity and control, emphasising technique over force.
The class concludes with a gentle transition into chest opening, moving towards the restorative form of Setu Bandha Sarvangasana. This closing section encourages quietness in the breath and a sense of ease in the body, providing a balanced and integrated finish to the practice.
This class is particularly well suited to those progressing from beginner to intermediate level, offering a structured bridge between the two. At the same time, it serves as a valuable reference point for more experienced practitioners – an opportunity to revisit and refine the essentials that underpin all aspects of yoga practice.
