Inversions and forward bends. Learn to confidently build inversions into your home yoga practice. This class places basic inverted yoga poses alongside a sequence of seated poses and forward bends. It will be accessible for students who are relatively new to inversions but will also challenge more experienced students and give options for further exploration. Initially adho mukha vrksasana (handstand) and sirsasana (headstand) are practiced in their preparatory stages. The action of kicking up into fully inverted positions is then introduced. This starts as a simple hopping action and progresses in time as your confidence grows. The sequence then includes poses that reinforce the fundamental techniques of seated poses and forward bends. Poses such as dandasana, paschimottanasana, janu sirsasana, upavista konasana and triang mukhaikapada paschimottanasana are included in this section. Sarvangasana (shoulderstand) is featured in the latter part of the class. You are shown in detail how to use props to assist with this pose. Improve your inversions and consolidate your forward bends.
