Twists and forward bends with a chair. This class shows how a chair can be used to help support your upper back, and keep your chest open whilst doing forward bends and twists. Whereas sometimes a support is used in these poses to bring about a restorative quality, here the chair is used more actively. The frame of the chair provides an excellent structure for your hands to grip in order to apply a corrective adjustment to the spine and upper torso. This approach to forward bends will be particularly beneficial to anyone working with a stiffer body. The class begins using the chair to assist with standing forward bends and standing twists. The twisting action is then emphasised throughout the seated forward bend component of the sequence.
