Focus

This class blends energising backbends with strengthening preparatory inversions and deep back-releasing poses. The sequence begins with variations of Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I) to expand the chest and bring elasticity to the spine, setting the stage for deeper backbends. Next, Salabhasana (Locust Pose) is explored to reinforce back muscle engagement and consolidate fundamental backbending techniques. The class then transitions into Urdhva Mukha Svanasana (Upward Facing Dog Pose) and chair-supported backbends, drawing connections between these poses to refine alignment and enhance accessibility. To bring balance to the practice, the session concludes with a restorative, back-releasing version of Viparita Karani, allowing the spine to decompress and the body to absorb the benefits of the practice. This well-rounded class cultivates both strength and suppleness, making it ideal for deepening your backbend practice while maintaining spinal health.
