Focus

Most people will experience lower back pain at some stage in their life. This class shares some common Iyengar Yoga techniques for using yoga ropes to help relieve lower back pain. The poses pictured here are all featured in the class. Most of them use the ropes to help bring a gentle quality of traction to the spine. For many people lower back pain can be associated with a feeling of tightness and compression. Aches and pains can be exacerbated by extended periods of standing or sitting in an upright position. Hanging from yoga ropes can counteract this tendency, and help to recreate a sense of space throughout the spine. Variations of poses such as uttanasana, adho mukha svanasana, vajarasana and malasana are included in the class.
