This class features a sequence to help combat depression and anxiety. Despite being separate conditions, depression and anxiety often overlap and can benefit from similar approaches when practicing yoga. Reducing your stress levels, calming your nervous system, improving your ability to mentally focus and cultivating smooth and even rates of breathing can be a great starting point when working with these conditions. In addition to overlapping in some respects, there are also some key differences that may need to be taken into consideration. Whereas someone with anxiety might feel relief from being still and quiet whilst observing the inner workings of the breath, for someone with depression this stillness can be confronting and uncomfortable. Whilst practicing during times of depression it may be more effective to observe your breath and calm your mind via a broader range of poses that also help to open your chest and stimulate some energy circulation. This class includes restorative poses and supported versions of asanas from a variety of pose groups. click here to view Weekly Intermediate Class 185
