Description

This nine-part course will be well suited to people who are aged 65 or older. It will also benefit people of all ages who are looking for gentle yoga sequences to improve overall flexibility and strength. Practicing yoga can have many benefits for an ageing body. As our bodies age they tend to progressively lose flexibility. As ligaments and tendons start to shrink and lose elasticity we become more prone to injuries and poor postural habits. Gentle stretching can help to alleviate this tendency. It can help to make us more comfortable in our bodies and allow us to carry ourselves in a more upright position.

In addition to improving posture and flexibility yoga poses can also help to build muscular strength and bone density. This can make us more stable on our feet and reduce the risk of falls. Energy levels may also start to improve once you establish a regular yoga practice. Yoga can also help to improve the mobility of your spine. This can bring relief to pain associated with your lower back and neck. On a more general level yoga can also help to alleviate pains associated with osteoarthritis. This comprehensive nine-part course includes poses from each of the main asana groups.
