This class features a sequence based around standing twists. The three key standing poses parivrtta trikonasana, parivrtta ardha chandrasana and parivrtta parsvakonasana form the basis of the class. Some additional asanas and variations are also included to help prepare your body for a strong session of twists. These poses will collectively help to unlock stiffness in the thoracic spine and improve mobility in the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the lower back. It will also be a great class for releasing tension throughout the whole body. Poses such as these will often be practiced in context with other standing poses or used as an entry point into a session of forward bends and seated twists. In addition to this it can also be beneficial to periodically practice standing twists in isolation from other pose groups. In this way they can be given your undivided attention. This class gives you the opportunity to delve deeper into the practice of standing twists.
