About
This class features a sequence of poses that lengthen the adductor muscle group. The adductors are a group of muscles located along the inner thigh that connect the pelvis to the thigh and help to draw the legs towards the midline of the body. They also contribute to the stability and control of the pelvis and legs during standing and movement. Reduced mobility in this region can develop for a variety of reasons, including prolonged sitting, repetitive activities and simply not regularly moving the legs through a wide range of motion. In yoga practice, tightness through the inner thighs and groin can restrict the movement of the pelvis and make a variety of standing poses and forward bends more difficult to access. Improving mobility in this area can therefore be beneficial both for maintaining comfortable, functional movement and for progressing your yoga practice. This short sequence gives you the opportunity to isolate the adductors and work progressively on improving their mobility. Key poses include Trikonasana, Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana, Supta Padangusthasana and Upavistha Konasana. The class will be particularly helpful for students wanting to improve inner-thigh flexibility and create greater freedom in poses that require the legs to move apart.
