About
This 35-minute class can be practised as a focused session in its own right or used as a preparation for its companion Intermediate Class 449. It can also be combined with other seated, forward bend or twisting classes from the Yoga Selection video library, highlighting the flexibility of an on-demand library where shorter classes can be mixed and matched to create a practice that suits your available time and intended focus. This particular sequence is aimed at more experienced students and uses standing poses to prepare the body for a deeper session of forward bends. Forward bending actions are explored in uttanasana, padangusthasana, parsvottanasana and utthita hasta padangusthasana, with particular attention given to lengthening the hamstrings while maintaining spinal length and openness across the chest. These actions connect directly with those required in the seated forward bends that follow. Practised on its own, the class offers a concise and targeted way to improve hamstring mobility and refine forward bending technique. When practised immediately before Class 449, it extends the companion 55-minute class into a more substantial 90-minute practice, building on its accessible chair-and-bolster approach to provide experienced students with a more challenging and complete forward bending sequence.
