About
This energising 30-minute class explores a dynamic Iyengar Yoga approach to vinyasa practice, drawing on the long-standing tradition of intelligently sequenced flowing movements within the Iyengar method. The sequence links classical standing poses with Surya Namaskar variations to create a continuous, rhythmic practice that develops strength, mobility and stamina while maintaining careful attention to alignment. Essential poses including Trikonasana, Virabhadrasana II, Parsvakonasana, Parsvottanasana, Parivrtta Trikonasana and Prasarita Padottanasana are connected through a flowing to-and-fro stepping action from Adho Mukha Svanasana, with each standing pose returning to a Surya Namaskar sequence incorporating Chaturanga Dandasana and the uplifting extension of Urdhva Mukha Svanasana. Requiring little to no equipment (with blocks optional for additional support), this class is ideal when time is limited, when travelling without your usual yoga props, or whenever you are looking for a more vigorous practice that combines the precision of Iyengar Yoga with the energising qualities of continuous movement. Alongside improving flexibility and reinforcing the essential actions of the standing poses, the sequence helps develop upper body and leg strength, cardiovascular fitness, coordination and concentration, leaving you feeling refreshed, focused and invigorated.
