About
This class explores four of the most important seated forward bends – Janu Sirsasana, Paschimottanasana, Upavista Konasana and Triang Mukhaikapada Paschimottanasana. Beginning with accessible preparatory variations, the class establishes the essential foundations of each pose before progressively introducing more developed versions that encourage deeper exploration as your mobility and understanding improve. Throughout the practice, emphasis is placed on developing the balanced combination of hamstring flexibility and spinal mobility that allows forward bends to be performed with stability, length and ease. Each posture is first approached in an upright position to cultivate lift through the spine before gradually progressing into the forward bending action. Particular attention is also given to the use of corrective twisting adjustments that help restore symmetry through the trunk and pelvis, creating greater balance, improving spinal alignment and allowing the forward bends to be practiced with increased comfort and precision. Whether you are consolidating the fundamentals or refining an established practice, this class provides a clear and methodical approach to one of yoga’s most important groups of asanas.
