Focus
This class is designed to cultivate ease and mobility in the gluteal and deep hip muscles, focusing on techniques that improve both flexibility and functional stability. By honing in on the often-overlooked hip rotators, this session works to dissolve tension in the glutes and relieve the piriformis muscle, encouraging balanced mobility in the lower body. Ideal for practitioners experiencing hip tightness, this class enhances seated postures, supports smooth transitions in asanas, and contributes to an overall sense of freedom in movement. Featuring variations of Sukhasana, Gomukhasana, Supta Padangusthasana, and Eka Pada Rajakapotasana, the class offers a comprehensive release for hip discomfort and helps prevent lower back strain. Whether you’re managing stiffness, recovering from hip discomfort, or looking to deepen your asana practice, this class provides a nurturing approach to unlocking mobility and comfort in the hip region.

Hi this was a great class. However, when I’m in gomakasana with my left leg on top, I feel it in my inner left groin, not outer hip. Not sure why.

Hi Rani, it may be advisable to consolidate the two cross leg variations that come before gomukhasana in this sequence. Or access the gluteal on this side from the pidgeon pose version where you are sitting on the yoga chair and leaning forwards with your hands to the wall. You can progress to Gomukhasana once these pose are coming with freedom. It is intended to be a glute opening pose without irritating the hip joint. Good that you have noted this. Rod
